The proposal is for new weight categories. I have heard gossip and different guesses from multiple sources about what they could potentially be, but I don't take any of it that seriously. Weight categories are always political, depending on what the IWF executive board wants and what the AC will sign off.My suspicion is that will be not too different to the categories in Tokyo, hopefully decided after this year's World Championships.

The big issue is the athlete quota because that is the primary expense of weightlifting for the IOC. I don't think the IOC will give weightlifting 12 per category with 8 categories, that's 192 athletes (up from 120, originally 150 in Paris). The IOC probably doesn't mind giving out more medals or stretching the event over more days, but the athlete quota is likely less flexible.

Of course, Tokyo had 196 but I think it's a difficult sell from weightlifting to increase the quota because the IOC wants to cut costs whilst including more sports.

I couldnt remember if this was posted somewhere or not.

Two of the ten athletes receiving reallocated medals from past Olympic Games, involve weightlifting - they will receive them in Paris.

The notorious 85kg men's class from London, Bronze now goes to Tarek Abdelazim and the Bronze from the Men's supers goes to Sang-Guen Jeon from South Korea.

A couple of Belorussian athletes are left off the entries for Paris. Asayonak (89) and Ziaziulin (102+) have been rejected while Tsikhansou (102) and Valodzka (71) have been included acording to this link

Without speculating on the reasons as to why they were excluded, I believe this is the first (not final) round of invitations. I will wait to see what happens with Asayonak and Ziaziulin, although I doubt that will change.
