Liu Mengjia, 3rd place at 55, was born in 2008 so a youth lifter. She did 99/122/221 while the (retired) YWR are 89/110/198. Too bad there's not really an Olympic class for her in the next quad.

Yeah Liu Mengjia is a promising talent (I believe she snatched 99kg last year?), but there have been many cases of promising youths who did not progress as expected into their senior years. There are innumerable factors that could affect that.

I expect the drop in China's results over time to be gradual, and it is seemingly affecting the men more rapidly than the women.

Women's 64 makes me miss Deng Wei.

It's understandable how they had nobody on her level, but it's quite strange how CHN had none for the last 5-7 years even in the 250+ range (i.e. good for CHN standards).
