The absence of the USAW submission for removal of the pressout and associated elbow rulings is notable.

At the end of a lift, all 10 of them cast a vote.

Let’s assume the lift is ruled valid by the platform referees.

If 4 out of the 7 panel members vote for an "invalid" (no-lift) decision, a video review is triggered. Those 7 members then decide, by majority vote, whether the lift is valid or not.

Is that correct?
These changes have been floating around for the last year or maybe year and a half.

Previously, there were provisions for a 3 member jury or 5 member jury, with up to 2 reserve jury members. The jury would vote separately from the referees on a final decision, coming to their own conclusion.

Under the new rules, this adjudication panel will combine the votes of the jury and referees. The adjudication panel consists of the 3 competition referees, and 4 jury members. There is also a provision for a reserve jury member and reserve referee. 10 could split into 5-5 which would nullify a vote.

Functionally, this makes little difference other than reducing operating costs a bit over the previous system.

I don't understand the political rationale (physiology is irrelevant to the IWF) for 3 hour weigh ins. Long and disrupted weigh-ins do of course impact athletes who are cutting weight, especially at international level where there can be communication issues), but I don't honestly believe that is why the IWF would do that.

Thinking locally, domestic federations have to seriously think about whether its in their best interests to adopt the 3 hour weigh in rule. Some competition days are exceptionally long, this is going to make that worse.

I mean the Olympics is in LA. Here is a list of countries invaded or bombed by the USA from 1945-2020, not including regime change through other means.

Afghanistan 1998, 2001-
Bosnia 1994, 1995
Cambodia 1969-70
China 1945-46
Congo 1964
Cuba 1959-1961
El Salvador 1980s
Korea 1950-53
Guatemala 1954, 1960, 1967-69
Indonesia 1958
Laos 1964-73
Grenada 1983
Iraq 1991-2000s, 2015-
Iran 1987
Korea 1950-53
Kuwait 1991
Lebanon 1983, 1984
Libya 1986, 2011-
Nicaragua 1980s
Pakistan 2003, 2006-
Palestine 2010
Panama 1989
Peru 1965
Somalia 1993, 2007-08, 2010-
Sudan 1998
Syria 2014-
Vietnam 1961-73
Yemen 2002, 2009-
Yugoslavia 1999

I do not particularly care for the modern Russian state, but it is odd that these criticisms are rarely thrown at the USA or its sycophant states (e.g. Australia). Criticism of Russia for this necessitates criticism of the West too. The 2024 Olympics were in Paris; French neocolonialism in Africa (Françafrique) remains very strong. To recognize only one side is, to be honest, only viewing white foreigners as fully human.
