As I'd expected, PRK didn't nuke all categories they entered (thankfully) but as I said in my earlier post, I feel no excitement. about these world records, only disappointment. The difference between 160 and 190 is 1 pill vs 10 etc. One can only hope that testing removes these aberrant records.
From next year, only countries that allow unfettered ITA access should be eligible to compete at IWF event, so hopefully we don't have a repeat of this shambles.
Outside of PRK, the focus has been on Rahmat's 201 WR, understandably, but the more interesting lift to me is the 158 snatch. He's never been a strong snatcher (relatively speaking), and putting together a great snatch and great clean and jerk together whilst cutting weight is a good sign.
No videos have been posted about Shi Zhiyong's clean and jerks, I'm guessing they're still problematic for him even if he can snatch reasonably.

Would like to see footage of Ri's attempts at 210 (have not found videos from today). But expected win, weak global category.

Thanks.

So Liao Guifang injured herself too?
113 118x DNF
edit: curiously, both DPR women are really W71 with BWs of 69.57 and 71.73
edit2: saw on CCTV Liao strained (but not dislocated) her elbow, tried a light warmup before her 3rd but told coach "nope"

Re: 2022 Asian Games, Hangzhou China (from 30 Sept 2023)
Quite unexpected. Haven't seen full video (only 3rd attempts) but to see Liu do those weights (moreso the 233) wasn't on my bingo card. I thought he'd be capable of that level in training (separate lifts), not combined.
edit: In retrospect, surprising but not THAT surprising. He did 225 in training at 89, likely prior to 2023 Asians. Seemed to snatch 175 or 180 as well. Now at 100kg, that improvement is still quite big (especially given the timeframe), but not totally out of the ordinary.
Djuraev's performance not so much, he hasn't been at his top level in a while (probably less drugs).

If they want Huanhua to really rise to the occasion like he is as of late, they should pit him against Lasha at 109.01kg.

Does anyone need replays? I think I can get hold of the CCTV broadcasts.
Also fun fact: PRK won 6 of their 11 Gold medals from weightlifting alone. They had 185 athletes but only 14 weightlifters.
