This is now a Wang "different hairstyle every year" Mingjuan appreciation forum. Here she is like a month ago in some school:
CCTV. Her Junior records are still way better than Jiang's. Which are very good to begin with.
Before London 2012 she was like: wait, I can win the Olympics with a 200 total? LMAO!
---
Did not know the Thai 61 was a Junior, hence he kicks CHN out of records.
---
67 tomorrow: CHN only interesting if they're forced to cut to simulate 61 backup comp, i.e. 62.X kg. If they can weigh whatever then idc
59: Luo needs to total 240+ at last, to push this category forward

Huh, never noticed the different hairstyle every year thing. Only thought she was kinda hard to identify compared to other lifters.
Wang Mingjuan vs Yang Lian best 49 battle around. Maybe include Chen Xiexia.
A major consideration though: Wang Mingjuan (or esp Tian Yuan) had a larger national/international disparity than Yang Lian, or Jiang Huihua/HOU for that mattrr. And Chen Xiexia obv banned + virilised

Agreed on both counts, though if they competed at 64-65 I'd just mentally tax a few % off their snatch/cj.
For the 59s: Curious to see what shape basically anyone/everyone is in.
KUO Hsing Chun TPE is in fairly unknown shape - I think she's capable of pulling out high 230s, maybe 241-242 to win.
LUO Shifang CHN; we want to see her do 240+, but we'll realistically get 236 IMO. Colombia was not a good showing for her in the slightest.
PEI Xinyi CHN I would hope approaches the cusp of 240.
DIAZ Hidilyn PHI (subjectively, *pure* conjecture) doesn't look comfortable at 59, despite having competed as a 58 previously. Curious to see what she manages but she'll definitely need to grow into the class as the quad opens up if she's gonna qualify.
ANDO Elreen Ann PHI has a big entry of 230 - but it's not like the other people's 230 entry. I'm sure she can snatch low-mid 90s, maybe high 90s if she has a great day. I could see a maximum of 125-128 if she has a good day for clean and jerks.
A North Korean would spice things up but they're probably busy dealing with not COVID and not testing.

Eh, as Wang-Mingjuan-fanclub-in-absentia-President*, I'd argue she never needed more. Her best CHN total is 220, IWF it's 213 & 210. Just as today China had a surplus of 48s in her era as well. She basically took it easy or tried WRs internationally, domestically she had to fight for the Gold (though not always).
*I'm also Zhang Wangli fanclub CEO

Diaz PHI is too old for improvements
Kuo TPE is as stated: "form?!?"

She never needed more, true. But she missed weights that were not fitting of someone who totalled 220 or 215.

I think Diaz has some chance to improve if her muscular and technical weaknesses are improved. She has significant lagging parts which could be improved. But that's not a guarantee and in any case I don't think she's going to be a winner.

Men's 67A
Snatches
AL SALEEM Seraj did the presentation and withdrew snatch attempts.
The ever mercurial ERGASHEV Adkhamjon UZB goes 3/3 on 130/134/138
Hometown lifter LEE Sangyeon KOR goes 133/136/139, 1kg below his PB at this bodyweight.
JEREMY Lalrinnunga IND goes 137x/137/141, equalling his best. His opener just looked like he forgor. 141 looked very sharp, like he could've done more.
RASHIDOV Bunyad TKM goes 140x/140/144x, thankfully breaking my expectation of him bombing.
Chinese fake 67s (61s who look like they didn't cut): DING Hongjie took 135/138x/139, HE Yueji 138/143/147. I'm taxing 5kg off each for not cutting.
Clean and jerks
JEREMY Lalrinnunga IND takes 165 for his opener, 1kg below his PB internationally. Misses twice, goes up to 168 and also misses.
RASHIDOV Bunyad TKM goes 158/162/166x, again breaking my expectation of TKM bomb.
ERGASHEV takes 162/168/174, reasonable attempt selection and uncharacteristically goes 6/6, but significantly down on his 2019 results.
DING opened on 166, which he makes convincingly. HE takes 167, done casually. DING takes 171, deadlifts it twice. LEE Sangyeon opens on 175 to secure a total and does it well, looking like a conservative 2nd attempt. HE Yueji on 173 does a strong clean and sticks the jerk. HE then takes 176, which he makes for a hard clean but nothing in the jerk.
LEE Sangyeon needs 182 to win, which he cleans well twice but also twice rushes the jerk, resulting in very close misses.
8kg tax for Chinese clean and jerks brings HE's estimated 61kg results to 142+165.
ADDIT; HE's legs look bigger now than before, it's one of the few comps where I haven't seen him pinned by a clean in at least one of the three attempts.

Snatch
Surprisingly good session. As previously, 2 lifters pulled out with no attempts. Timing out to give your teammate rest doesn't count. Or Hanlon's razor I guess.
ENKHBAATAR Enkhtamir goes 91/93x/96.
SAETIA Thanaporn THA (U17) 88/92/95
ANDOH Mikiko JPN goes 90/93/95x close miss.
SEO Jeongmi KOR goes 93/98x/98, gets passed due to more relaxed (less intrusive and obstructive) refereeing standards this competition.
Both Filipinos snatched up to 99. ANDO Elreen looking to be in the shape I hoped she was in, but a 125 CJ opener is still... high.
Battle for gold: Kuo TPE takes 98, 100, 102. Gets three whites again due to relaxed judging standards. That's a two white light and jury overturn lift in Tokyo.
LUO Shifang CHN takes 98, 102, 105, all looking like excellent lifts and I think matching her national best?
PEI Xinyi CHN takes 100, 103, 106x close miss.
Clean and Jerk
Nope I guess Hanlon's razor was right, the Thai's just didn't pull their lifter out. Irritating.
ENKHBAATAR Enkhtamir goes 110/114x (missed jerk)/117x (didn't rack clean).
SAETIA Thanaporn THA (U17) 110/114x (missed jerk)/114
SEO Jeongmi KOR does 113/117x push incline press/117. Like a lot of Korean women, she makes good use of the whip of the bar, but is wobbly and army. Even with a whippy short drive you're still supposed to use your legs.
DIAZ takes 118 for an easy clean and almost accidentally sent the bar into space on the jerk, 122 quite easy. 125 smooshed
ANDOH Mikiko JPN takes 120, made but a little shaky 2-1 good lift. 123 harder, but more solid - still questionable but 3 whites.
ANDO Elreen Ann opens on 125 and has a haaard clean, tries but cant save the jerk. Repeat x2
Pei Xinyi 125, casual. LUO Shifang 126, casual.
Kuo takes 128, hard/wobbly.
Both CHN took 130, casual.
Kuo takes 133, misses the jerk as she didn't have any tension in the body.
Both Chinese lifters take 133. I was really hoping for 135 (min) for third attempt from Pei and had a brief hope before it was adjusted down. Easy. LUO Shifang also takes 133, hard clean but easy jerk as usual.
Kuo takes 135 for a hard clean and overhead knee to floor lunge.
Opinion: Kuo looks like her entire body is not happy with lifting weights, it's not the knees. Zero trunk or shoulder rigidity, wondering if she has a back injury or pain.
Team China were solid in their lifting and disappointing in their attempt selection, I would have really liked to see Pei and Luo take fourth attempts in both lifts.

Luo has the NR with 106, so not a PB.
This was a good session.
I don't agree with that view on Kuo, she always lifted like this. Sometimes stable with neat execution, sometimes off by 20% with no chance at holding heavier jerks.
