The new regime at the IRIWF faces an immediate challenge in securing approval to send a team to the IWF World Youth Championships in Albania starting on March 25.

Iran has entered 20 athletes, eight of them female, but because of its poor relationship with Albania, the Iranian Foreign Ministry has not signed off on the journey.

Hadi Panzwan, the national youth team coach, told local media: "They were supposed to announce the result last Saturday but the fact that they didn't say anything probably means a negative answer.

"We have a very good team that could be among the best in the Championships, but these things happen in sport."

Trivia question.

How many athletes have won a Youth, Junior and Senior World Championship Gold in the total?

I actually don't know the answer, Youth worlds have only been around since 2009, I'm pretty sure Simon Martirosyan is one.

I know Deng Wei did in 2009-2011.
Artyom Okulov 2011-2015.

Jiang Huihua won Youth OG, JWC and WC from 2014-2015.

Olga Zubova for a while, but her senior title in 2013 was later DSQ.

Deng Wei really does have the full suite.

Youth + Youth Olympics, Junior, Senior Gold totals plus Olympic Gold and class records.

Neisi Dajomes YWC 2013, JWC 2016/2017/2018, WWC 2017.
Sara Ahmed YWC 2013/2015, YOC 2014, JWC 2015/2018, WWC 2022.
Thach Kim Tuan if you count 2010 YOG as Worlds (no YWC in 2010), JWC 2014, WWC 2017.

Deng Wei's incredible performance and lifespan as a lifter is so underappreciated. The only blemishes on her record are a 2nd place against Lin Tzu-Chi going Kazakh mode and her pulling out from Tokyo. Which she probably could have won whilst injured.

Thanks for sharing this, wasn't aware this of this competition. Curious to see how the RUS/BLR IOC sanction pans out and whether the lifters will be entered into Euros, Asians or neither for Paris qualification.

No, the First International Nowruz Games for Women is an all-ages competition.

Nowruz (Persian New Year) is celebrated in Russia but not widely, I think it's just amongst particularly ethnocultural minority groups. I assume Russia is there as a nice gesture for Iran and to discuss Olympic qualification pathways through the Asian Weightlifting Federation with its board members. Positive side effect of allowing youth athletes to compete internationally.

Uzbekistan is sending two juniors (Nigora Abdullaeva -55, Sevinchoy Komilova -71) and two U23/senior (Rigina Adashbaeva -81, Tursunoy Jabborova +81).

I know that Pakistan, Nepal and Iraq are set to send lifters but I don't know anything (well, anything interesting) about them. I believe that Egypt was originally planned to enter but pulled out.

Nothing interesting except for the 13 year W40kg lifting 53+67=120, which is impressive but makes me hope she isn't being helicopter sports parented or peaked too early.
