Lifting order during a competition

I have a question for you about lifting order during a competition.
Is this situation possible?
A did 66-68
B did 67-69
A wants to make B go first in the third attempt. So he calls 76 for example. B calls 71. So B goes on the platform for 71. At that point can A lower his third attempt to 71 to go on the platform right after B?

No, that would violate the order of lifting according to Lot number, attempts, weight on the bar. A would need to take 72.

Thank you, I need it to develop a strategy for the next qualification XD

Short answer, yes. The definition of the rule is a bit nebulous.
Strictly speaking, I think that would violate the order of lifting only on the opener (due to lot number). Realistically, if I made a mistake on the opener as a coach, I'd probably try anyway and hope that the marshal/TC don't know the rules too well. It's often a reasonable enough bet even if I feel bad about it.
If B takes the third attempt on 71 and A changes to 71 before the bar is loaded to 72 (i.e. during A's attempt), then by virtue of B having taken the third attempt, they have become the earlier lifter and A becomes the later lifter. If B changes up to 72 instead of taking the attempt, then the call goes back to A.
I have seen this strategy used before in qualification meets, however it can seriously backfire so you have to be careful. IMO it's usually better to focus on trying to pick the numbers that let you maximise your own lifter's performance, you never know what someone else can or can't do.

Ok, this is the situation:
I have an athlete that can qualify for the national championships. But he has an opponent that is a little bit ahead in the ranking (in Italy we have some qualifying competitions that make a ranking list. Only the first 6 athletes go to nationals). We have only one more competition. In the final ranking list, in case of a tie, priority is given to the youngest athlete. So I would like my athlete to do exactly what his opponent does, without doing anything more.

As far as I understand it, yes that could work.
