Has anyone seen numbers for new World Standards and will they at least carry over the SHW records?

In May 2025, the organization announced plans to hold the [Enhanced Games] in May 2026 at Resorts World Las Vegas, and that the sports included are to be swimming, track and weightlifting.[17]

The IWF is firmly opposed to the organisation of the 2026 Enhanced games (where the sport of Weightlifting was announced in the programme) and the danger it poses not just to athlete health but the integrity of sport.

Any comments on the IWF elections?

Who knows what Urso will do now. Out of FIPE, out of EWF and out of IWF.

The thing that "worries" me is that Italy has no representation in either the EWF or the IWF. Not that it makes a big difference for the development of the sport at a national level though...

In the lead up to the congress, social media with filled with people petitioning their followers for political support. With few exceptions, these were appeals to 'vote for me'. Very few commitments for action on particular issues or even brief outlines for change and improvement. That makes me think there is still a long way to go before we have principles ruling over people.

It seems a lot more energy is put into lobbying over problem-solving. To this day the IWF has a CEO but we see and hear nothing from him - people in governance should not be preoccupied with day to day tasks.

You're right, on social media I've seen several Italians, coaches and athletes, rooting for a Romanian candidate, I think (whose name I don't remember), but I haven't read anything else.

I don't remember well, but I don't think it was him. Antonio Conflitti is Italian and emigrated to Moldova. I met him at an Italian national championship in 2022, I think. He was doing a site inspection to evaluate the location that in 2024 was supposed to host the European championships (which were then held in Bulgaria, because they were too expensive).

But there must have been some kind of rift with the Italian federation that, for the European elections, chose not to vote.

I think he was Romanian, he could be the president of the Romanian Federation, but I'm not so sure.

Speaking of other things, the Italian Federation has just opened a web TV.

"Available 24 hours a day live and on demand, the platform offers a complete entertainment experience with live events, original programs, exclusive interviews, top-level technical insights and much more." they say.

I don't know exactly what will be uploaded and it will be only in Italian (I think) but it's free, if you are interested you can sign up!
