New cases (?)
HAMADA Mohammed PLE - methasterone (Superdrol or methyldrostanolone), likely an in competition test at 2022 Junior Worlds.
Improved from 310@96 to 361 @ 102 in 1 year, not a surprise.

ABBASPOOR Alireza IRI - Heptaminol. Really? I can't see how this would be useful in weightlifting.
Peripheral vasoconstriction and cardiac stimulation would not be useful in weightlifting. Is this a case of not putting in a TUE?
Possibly a metabolite after using octodrine (stimulant)? Stimulants in weightlifting comp are dumb anyway.

Not news at all, but after the AWC I looked up Man Asaad from Syria (SHW) - he was already positive for dianabol as a 16y old.

I think I've seen and forgotten this before.

A lifter with what seems like no real institutional support, coming from a poor and currently war-struck country, lifting with the very best. Not surprising. What's more surprising to me then is that he hasn't tested positive again. I reckon he cycled off earlier for the 2021 Olympics than for the other competitions.

So, I guess Ivan Markov will rejoice in now being the 2013 World Champion at 85kg. Right?

Yep, a few weird details about this.

Mauritius producing positive tests is definitely not weird given their history of drug use, with limited success.

It's weird that it's just one result that appears proximal to Mauritius' selection event for African Championships (dated 19 March 2016).

My guess is retesting the sample prior to statute of limitations produced this result. Maybe comparing biological passport details found a urine swap. She's also coached by Constantin Urdas, the Romanian coach who also works with Loredana Toma.

Talk about stories within a story.

The word 'random' has been taken hostage by millennials but this positive is totes random. If ITA are using biological passport data in cross-referencing in a more comprehensive way since the are we about to see a wave of positives in the next year?

It could also be a pre-Rio OOC test.

A lot of recent sanctions have been from old samples/ADRVs so I would suspect yes, reanalysis prior to statute of limitations (taking into account time for legal processing) for pre-Rio samples and any samples in a similar timeframe will likely bring many positives.
