Ensured in-competition drug testing and there's nothing stopping someone from putting in a sham total like 60+80 when their total is 350. So weighing-in and doing the presentation counts as competing, much as no one likes it.

If there's one thing which grinds my gears, it's WL reporting and chatter which equates "Olympic champion" with "best in world" or "surprise if beaten".

I can beat an Olympic champion if they bomb out or are well past their prime.

TL;DR UK Anti Doping handed off drug testing to British Cycling prior to the 2012 London Olympics, then hired PR people to try to pour water over the fire. Not suggesting this is true of weightlifting, just annoyed and aggrieved about the state of anti doping and their holier than thou commentary.

Gave me cause to go back and look at what the McLaren report 'immediate' recommendations were.

1.Conduct a full-scale independent forensic audit of the last ten fiscal years, includinginformation uncovered in this investigation and with full access to all accounts. In this regard, an immediateexamination of the books and records held in two “safe” cupboards in the Budapest office discovered 2 weeks ago.
2.Alter the method of voting atthe upcoming Electoral Congressand ensure effective oversight of the process.
3.Change all email passwords used by everyone in IWF.
4.Do not permit anycash payment of antidoping fines or sumsover $500 USD.
5.Any payment of necessity paid or received in cash must be accompanied by a serial sequentially numbered receipt signed by the recipient. Thereceipt must be saved to create an audit trail. Two people must witness the receipt, movement and banking of cash funds.
6.All cash received to be immediately deposited in the designated bank account with only a small float maintained in the office for incidental expenses.
7.The closureof all bank accountsin Budapest banks.
20
8.Joint signatures must be put in place and complied withon all bank accounts to be opened or remaining in use.
9.Hire a full-time financial accountant reporting to a revitalized General Secretary Treasurer position.
10.Review and reform the financial powers of the President.
11.Implement professionalelectronicaccountingsoftware.
12.Takeover and continue the operation oftheindependentwhistleblower hotlineestablished by the MIIT.

Boy oh boy WL was in some low water when it came to anti-doping and corruption.

An interesting post by 'WLfan' over on reddit.

https://www.reddit.com/r/weightlifting/ ... _revealed/

I'm curious about how technical attributes of the sport are expressed in different languages and contemplate how that may effect motor learning.

Whilst 'Stacco', 'Cambio' and 'Scambio' can obviously be translated, I feel like in english what these singular words describe is not codified or simply expressed quite as well.

Thoughts?

In Russian, the terminology for the classic lifts are descriptive of the actions or concepts. рывок for snatch, often understood as "to tear" or "rip", and толчок understood as "to thrust" or "to jerk." Other terms such as "padriv" are descriptive of concepts that are difficult to explain unless you know the language. It is often where we have gotten our term "jump" for second pull. The concept explained to me is to "push/thrust against" in short.
