Al lot of athletes were "Ill" at the time of the registration. When they receverd the registration was already closed.
Other athletes (like Toko Kegne) are busy with some type of army training camp in the days of the WC.
Magistris is fine, she trained well after the Olympics and she is ready to face her platform fear
Reyes Martinez is fine too.
Miserendino was ill but she recovered 20 days ago, so she is ready.
Corbu remained vague about athletes' illness. I don't understand if they have/had some type of disease or they are/were injured.
M55 had some slightly better (more top heavy) performances this year in comparison to previous years, but I don't feel like many of these lifters will adjust well to M60 once teammate battles come into play for Olympic qualification.
Zhao Jinhong CHN snatch 87 (88x) + 113 CJ was about what I expected for her first international competition. Good performance amongst a sparse weight category. I expect the same for the upward adjustment to 48 - I don't think many of these lifters will dethrone the 49s.
Xiang Lingxiang snagging Junior Records in the C&J and total, big future, typical smooth Chinese female efficiency. Watching Ri Song Gum missed both Senior world record attempts, including not being able to clean 126 made me think that North Korea are not as strong at this championships as I thought they would be when added to the misses on the opening night.
And right after having that thought, Pak Myong Jin made a great 3rd attempt Snatch for the Gold after missing it on 2nd attempt. Then he secured overall Gold on his opening C&J and finish with 305kg. This contrasted the 4 bomb outs in this session. Teams trying to snag a medal when its really not there. Wei Haixian only made openers, didn't make the most of this opportunity to lift internationally for China.
Xiang Linxiang snatching 93 and jerking 120 was basically the performance I expected. 5/6, 96 attempt wasn't close but probably doable.
She did 221@55 last year domestically and totalled 207@49 earlier this year at nationals (89/118).
Wei Haixian is one of many odd choices to send internationally this year from China. They would have known he was unlikely to win and many of the others are in the same situation.
Aniq Kasdan had a good performance. Nguyen Tran Anh Tuan breaks into the silver by going 4/6 - a rare sight for Vietnamese lifters.
M61 has a number of bomb outs as usual - I would not be surprised if many of these athletes are cutting 7-10% BW to make 61.
I wonder if some of the boost to W45/M55 this year came from people knowing that this would be the categories' last hurrah.
PRK across the 4 lifters so far look weaker than in Phuket. Obviously, I will never know why.

At 49, yes. 113@45 is bonkers to me.
I misremembered - I remembered her doing 198 last year at the nationals but I thought it was at 45 not 49. Regardless, the expectation for me was that she'd blow out the W45 this year and it turned out correct.
Wow the first medal for our national team. Great! Even though I don't think she has much room for growth anymore, I hope that the new categories will help her in some way.

World Championships for the Italian team definitely to forget: few athletes who underperformed. But maybe that's okay, the real preparation has yet to begin.
But did anyone understand what happened with the Miserendino's second clean and jerk attempt?
Ri Chong Song only weighed 78.6kg, that 166/205 is going to be very competitive next year in the new 79kg class.
Not sure to make much of Rahmat just going 154/193 beyond him not training much this year since Phuket. I had guessed that he was going to be a man on a mission at this competition, even when he ended up in the B session, because we know how that usually goes. Churkin will tread the medal/get popped line no doubt. Asian championships next year will tell us more about this class.
