2025 WWC
Re: 2025 WWC
MY VERY VALID AND UNDENIABLE OPINIONS
- "why are there so many W69 entries?" is what I was going to ask, but then again the Olympic categories aren't officially known yet... maybe there's """hope""" the jump will be 69-86
- Shi Zhiyong WTF?
- smaller team/only one per class from PRK
- with tradition, China cares more about their NG than the WWC (no A caliber)
- names like Romanova and Naniev are nostalgic at this point

Re: 2025 WWC
I wonder who those Sierra Leone's athletes are, with the inflated entry totals????erpel wrote: ↑Sat Jul 19, 2025 4:59 pm MY VERY VALID AND UNDENIABLE OPINIONS

Re: 2025 WWC
Looks like they typed 2 instead of 1 for the women (e.g. 223->123), the men have low/normal entries.
Re: 2025 WWC
The big cuts have occurred to the start list https://mf2.iwf.sport/entry_list/
Looks like Reeves is going to 77. Not much of a team from Kazakhstan, pretty small team from China, Yousefi not back yet, 65 and 110 on the men's side should be good to watch. No Kim Yong-Ju from PRK, or Rüstamowa from Turkmenistan. I was hoping to see them follow up their Junior Worlds results here.

Re: 2025 WWC
If I'm going to be honest, the thing I'm most curious about and hoping to get out of this WWC is hearing that people are working on the LA28 qualifying system. It would be nice if it could be done by the end of this year.
Reeves committing to 77 is expected, she and her coach said that Pan Ams was the only 69 event (probably just to break WRs). It makes sense, she has a lot of room to add muscle on her frame and it's better not to stunt whatever growth she may have left when she's young.
Curious to hear more about current behind the scenes news in Kazakhstan.
There are still some more lifters who will pull out, along with the usual suspects of countries who enter a large team and then pulling almost all of them out or simply not turning up.
China is focused on the CNG as opposed to the post-Olympic WWC, as is tradition.
The final entries should be done next week so the remaining changes will be out soon enough.Hawkpeter wrote: ↑Thu Sep 11, 2025 8:58 pm The big cuts have occurred to the start list https://mf2.iwf.sport/entry_list/

Most likely. Curious to see what happens before and/or after lifting.
Re: 2025 WWC
The Italian team also seems to have lost some athletes. I'm interested to see if Magistris will be there, I haven't seen her train with the group in Rome anymore.

Re: 2025 WWC
The way it usually goes is there will be a reasonably big culling again when the final entries are out. One hopes that the policy of the IWF fining people for not showing up will deter people from doing it; one hopes.
Ficco is listed as Italian but is white Indonesian. I will not be taking further questions.
