Re: The Sanctions Thread
Just like Batu Han Yuksel, my reaction is expected athlete sanction for an expected and predictable drug.
All of Colombias sanctions in the last five years have been for boldenone (with one also having furosemide).
As I expected, these so called "modern" coaches with physiotherapy/S&C concepts and exercise prescription from the 90s/00s have brought nothing new to the table. They have succeeded with the same tools of the past - talent selection, drugs and weightlifting training.
There is of course, room for modernisation in weightlifting training and rehabilitation, but this isn't it.
Surprisingly, this is Colombia's only positive for this qualifying period (so far).

Re: The Sanctions Thread
3 new published sanctions. Comments in square brackets are my own.
COLOMA Joelita Sharifa
Seychelles
Athlete
Art. 2.1 - Presence of Drostanolone and Trenbolone metabolite
Violation date: 30 September 2023 [likely OOC, after the 11th Indian Ocean Islands Games 2023 or prior to 2023 JWC]
Butt, Amjad Amin [PWF vice president] / Akbar, Muhammad Waqas [coach]
Pakistan
Athlete Support Personnel
Art. 2.5 - Tampering; Art. 2.9 - Complicity
10 November 2021
-
Seychelles Weightlifting Association has another Bulgarian coaching diaspora moment.
Surprised there was only one positive, and a little surprised at the nature of the test (timing, location, number).
I wonder if this means the ITA is doing more testing in Africa in general, or if there was a specific tip off.
PWF sanctions are not new (as seen by the dates), but it might mean that the Pakistani cases in CAS are finishing up.

Re: The Sanctions Thread
2 TKM provisional suspensions (AMANOVA Ogulgrek and AMANOVA Medine) have been resolved with agreement on consequences, 15 month suspension for both. This is in addition to the 3 year sanction for Rejepbay Rejepov.
TKM is not automatically banned from Olympic qualification as they have received no 4 year sanctions (3 or more 4-year sanctions is an autoban), so it is still up to the "Independent Panel" to determine the fate of TKM.
15 months for what is typically a 4 year sanction is very odd, potentially implying some sort of cooperation?
Regardless, it looks unlikely that they would qualify anyone in the first place. Possibly the men's super TOYCHYYEV Hojamuhammet.
