So Curbu said it right: China male team doesn't have new athletes equal to the old ones.
Which could be the reason? Simply misfortune or a political/technical change?

Re: Minor competition thread
I feel somewhat the same way.
The national team is not present at the championships so take the winners of this competition as silver or bronze medallists. In light of that, M55 269/M61 302/M67 330 are still reasonably strong results for having the top competitors absent from the competition.
Chinese coaches have said there are less poor rural kids being recruited into weightlifting. Feeding your family through poverty is a big motivator. With increasing urbanisation in China and decreasing poverty, weightlifting is becoming a less attractive career choice.
I would also suspect *less* use of drugs at various levels in the system, especially comparing 2018-2024 to the pre-Rio and especially pre-London eras. My opinion on this comes from the changes in results, visible signs/symptoms across multiple athletes and implicit statements from various Chinese and other personnel.
My speculation on why the women have remained at the same level is that it was harder to recruit girls in the past so the talent pool was smaller, but I'm not confident on that. I think women's weightlifitng has improved more broadly over the years as it's still relatively young, less than 40 years old (officially).

Re: Minor competition thread
I had a longer post about this years ago, but basically China had a golden generation (time span 10-15 years) and are now returning to the mean.
They had several good (i.e. podium level) men beginning with the late 70s, but from 2008 onwards they had a generation of outstanding talent which basically just needed to show up to win (Liao Hui, Long Qingquan, Lyu Xiaojun, later Chen Lijun, Shi Zhiyong etc). This generation has now arguably fizzled out (at some point everyone does). They still have good younger men with Li Dayin and such of course, but these fight for medals, maybe Gold, but aren't guaranteed to win.

French National Championships, including guest lifters such as Jean Baptiste Yanou Ketchanke (CMR) and Nina Sterckx (BEL). The website requires you to sign up but the weightlifting is not paywalled. The other sports with money obviously charge a fee.
Sterckx 95/99x/99x + 117x/122x/122x at 55
Ketchanke 59 FRA did not compete.
Kingue Matam FRA did not compete.
Imadouchene 150/155x/162x + 195/200x/207x. Appears to have been injured either in China or shortly thereafter.
Frantz Felicité getting older and grayer makes his arms look even bigger.
