Any of you Canadian folk attending Canadian Nationals next month? I will be attending for the first time, would be good to say g'day.

I would not put it past the IWF to create new world standards for classes which won't change in August.

Women's 86kg, Men's 60kg will be my candidates. Potentially the same for men's snatch WR if they do the same nonsense again.

W86 individual lifts could be done by Peng Cuiting & peaked Liang Xiaomei, but yeah not the total. Koanda NOR doesn't seem to improve. M60 snatch and maybe total by Wang Hao, but CHN won't bother. Also yes, can't see the 110+ total get taken any time soon.

I forget Peng Cuiting is part of the national team now. Agreed that she can break the snatch WR, and CJ theoretically possible from Xiaomei or Koanda. Would need a clean and jerk specialisation program most likely, and total has no chance.

Koanda is the exception to the rule of benefiting from a non super heavier than 86kg category, along with potentially a Wang Zhouyu etc.

110+ snatch and total are a Lasha special. Unless one of the Armenians goes on a snatch specialisation cycle, I can't see it being broken. Total, no hope with the current crop of lifters.

I would rather see excessively low standards that result in "undeserving" world records than unbroken records.
